For those in the Seattle area, you can watch the Stephen Meyer/Peter Ward debate tonight at 8 p.m. on TVW (Channel 23).
Bruce Ramsey of The Seattle Times offered a Darwinist's perspective on the debate here, and Discovery Institute's Rob Crowther comments on Ramsey's essay here.
Ramsey, no doubt, called it like he saw it, but part of his description of Meyer's design argument was actually a description of how the Darwinists routinely mischaracterize the theory of intelligent design. In the debate, Meyer explains why that characterization is a straw man.
Ramsey also muddled (1) Meyer's explanation of why the theory of intelligent design doesn't identify the designer with (2) Meyer's forthright answer to a question about his religious beliefs. Fortunately, The Seattle Times has arranged to make the debate available in video form for anyone interested in getting at what happened without a media filter.
